Papa do Preach

I grew up with lots of poems about hard work. The most resounding idea after respect in an African home is hard work. My parents always encouraged me to reflect on the outcome of hard work; growing up my dad would say, “only from the works of your hands would you be able to gather money”, and from a very young age it was easy to work hard because something good always came from it.

There was always a competition on who was the best. Everyone wanted to be the best and although there were failures, my dad would say, “failure does not mean you are not working hard, it only means you do not know enough of it,” so next time we would try harder. Hard work is great because a lot comes with it.

First, peace of mind that everything is done and hopefully done right. Secondly, achievement and pride in the fact that you got it done. Thirdly, progress. One thing is done and now you can go on to the next thing. The last important thing that comes with hard work is the fact that you will always be ahead. Work is the antidote to poverty. By working, one attains greatness. One must apply himself to his work. Your mother may have much wealth, and your father owns lots of property, however, if you pin your hopes on them, you will always be disappointed. Truth be told, if one has not personally suffered for something, it does not last long at all; but that which we have worked earnestly for, lasts very long in one’s hands.
The world applauds you today, if you have wealth. If you’re in a position of influence or affluence, the world will honour you with smiles. If you are lazy, poor and needy however, the world will mock you. When you see a multitude, refusing to learn, please do not emulate them. Anguish awaits the senseless child, tears await the child running here and there doing nothing, play not with your morning, my friend, apply yourself to work all the time as the day is passing. Do not wait till tomorrow as time passes quickly by. Africans are known for their hard work and always striving to be better. Hard work is a great attribute of an Omoluabi. Omoluabi, a hardworking child of good character.

Hard Work: The Key to Success

Hard work is one of the most important words I could ever think of.
Hard work is like determination and responsibility together.
Hard work is a baseline for great achievement. Nothing amazing comes without it. Setting goals, making plans, and staying on track is hard work.
Even making mistakes is hard work.
I remember when I was in grade five, I got my test back and I got a C minus. I was disappointed in myself. I was ready to go home, when I read a poster that said, “making mistakes means you are trying.” Till this day I remembered that poster and always kept trying my best to work hard, to make my parents proud of me.
Hard work is the key to success.

Bernice’s Reality Check

Hi, my name is Bernice Babo and you’re watching or listening to the BRC ( Bernice’s Reality Check)

Reality TV show. In today’s Show we will be discussing the topic of “ Hard Work” I’m going to be telling you what it means to work hard and maybe how to change your attitude into a hardworking person! So, we will have two main topics and after one of them we will have a commercial break!
We’re back with today’s first main topic about working hard. Here is a quote from an anonymous survey responder. Take a listen,”Working hard means exceeding expectations.” Well said, ma’am.

Doing what’s asked but producing more to show that you are dedicated is truly showing that you’re a hard worker. No matter the circumstances in your life you still make an effort to get it done and hand it in on time, despite all your troubles. I dare someone to challenge that description of a hardworking person! Now just before our commercial
break here’s a little pun:
Q: What do you call a hard working pickle?
A: Dill – igent
Haha get it? A hardworking person is usually diligent. Now commercial break!

We’re back with today’s second main topic about working hard folks, here is another quote from another anonymous survey responder. Take a listen guys,”Working hard means persisting when others would’ve given up”.

Now time for a little story. I once knew the CEO of a small company that was going bankrupt. He was eating more than usual and it was making him increasingly obese. One day he had a heart attack at work and the doctor said his weight was life-threatening. From that day forward he woke up at 4:30 and took 2 hour jogs around half of his 150 acres of land . Back in the day when we used to work together I went to his office to get an important document and when I saw him I didn’t even recognize him.

He’s now a fit individual with a healthy weight. Plus just in case you were wondering about his job, his company was saved since another company had an outstanding debt to their company and that company payed them their money, which then boosted his job right back up. Since I have to end today’s episode I want to leave you all with a couple of
quotes :
“Working hard means enduring through unpleasant times.”
“Working hard is also working smart.”

“Working hard is also loving what you’re doing.”
Reread these quotes and in your heart you will decide if you are a hardworking person!

Doing Your Best

Hard work is when you put your heart and soul into something. It doesn’t always matter the outcome, but just knowing that you gave it your all and put everything you have into it is enough of a victory. You feel like you have accomplished something when you put in a good day at work.

When you have done the best you can for those around you, you feel at peace. You leave work feeling fulfilled knowing you gave it your all. You don’t need outside validation or acknowledgment. You feel good about your accomplishment, knowing you did your best

Working Hard or Hardly Working?

“Activity leads a man to power, but laziness leads to slavery.” Proverbs 12: 24

In life we all seek to give meaning to everything, values that can guide us. We want a reason for the “why”, “what” and “how” of life. We hope that our reason for living will lead us to happiness and peace. So, where can we put the principle of hard work and what does it mean? It has almost become a dirty word because nowadays, people want everything to be given to them, whereas being a “hard worker” is a very good quality for a person. Those who work well are always concerned about the quantity and quality of production and become valuable to society. In “hard work” we mean: effort, endurance, persistence, and diligence.

Each of us has a definition of what this term means to us. So why work hard? Indeed, we do it because we believe in it and plan our lives in relation to our joy and success. It is better for each of us to take the term and apply it to our own lives. In my opinion, working intelligently and vigorously on one thing (school, work, sport, etc…) and doing it in ways that apply, with maximum efficiency without downgrading the quality. To add, every day I get home from school, I give myself a meticulous review, study and understand my lessons to be able to pass my exams. In the evening I go to work and do it with love and passion. I work for my future and to achieve it I must make a maximum effort and keep a positive attitude and the desire to want to do and accomplish. A good definition of hard work also corresponds with that of success.

We want to work less and earn more, work fewer hours and receive more benefits. Be a hard worker, surpass others, do what others will not do and you will not only become a leader, but you will also be part of a rare and top percentile.

Commitment and Passion

Hard work is an essential part of attaining success, perhaps the most important thing for someone who is seeking to succeed in life. A person who wants to have a successful future needs first and foremost to be hardworking. Hard work is perseverance, commitment and the tremendous effort that a person makes to accomplish a task. These efforts can be directed towards learning, studies, a particular project and much more depending on the individual. Someone who is fully committed to his or her goal will often have to make sacrifices to achieve them, but these sacrifices are well worth it in the end when a person is rewarded for their efforts. In short, working hard guarantees many opportunities and successes in the future.

That said, to be able to give your best in what you do, you need to have love for what you are doing or learning to do. Passion is essential when performing a task. Without passion, a person merely performs a task or work to finish the job. This person will not have as much regard for the quality or content of the work as a person who has devoted himself entirely to the work. You shouldn’t just work hard because it is demanded but because working can be profitable for you and will contribute to your well-being.

Making Hard Work a Reality

Many people have big dreams and big ambitions, big plans they would like to achieve, but very few people are willing to work hard to accomplish them. For these people, they think that if they just keep dreaming, their dream will come true by magic. I say this because, I belong to this category of people. My dad always tells me that it is one thing to dream but it is another thing to work to realize it. In my opinion, when you have a goal, a dream that you would like to realize wholeheartedly, work does not become an obstacle for you, but becomes piece of cake. Writer Richard Bach said, “The more I want something done, the less I call it work.”
In my opinion, I think that hard work means: first, wanting to accomplish a certain task and give all the effort to make the final product a true masterpiece. There is a proverb that says, “When you want, you can.” When you really want something, you can get it. And if you want to have good grades in school, you must revise your notes or if you want to win a competition (ex: race) you must train tirelessly. Secondly, hard work for me is the main ingredient of success, otherwise you will not go anywhere.

Lastly, hard work for me means working tirelessly, overcoming any kind of hardship that comes our way, accepting criticism for better success, and always, I repeat, always need to keep a positive spirit while keeping our focus on our goal. Remember dear readers, that when you want to accomplish something, do not sit back and do nothing. Start with something, take a step forward, give everything you have and at the end, you will reap the fruit of your hard work.

Hard Work Equals Results

When I work hard on my stories at school, the teacher tells me I have done a good job and that she likes the pictures I have drawn. I feel happy and proud of the work I did. She even sent me to the office to show the Principal and Vice Principal who gave me a sticker for my great work. I also got to read my story to the class.

When I brought my story home to show my family, my mom was so proud of me. She reminded me about how I spent my free time working on my story instead of playing. I told her how much fun I had writing and drawing for my story. When you work hard, you see the results.

Fruits of your Labour

Hard work to me, could be defined as doing everything possible to accomplish a task no matter the obstacles or difficulties encountered. To further illustrate hard work, I will use examples of prominent people who have succeeded in their lives through hard work.

On top of this list is Thomas Edison who attempted more than 100 000 times to create an electric bulb. Though confronted with this challenge, he never gave up on his difficult mission. Due to his perseverance, he finally succeeded to light the bulb, all this thanks to Thomas Edison’s hard work and endurance.

However, Michael Jordan was a bad basketball player, because he was such a bad player he was dismissed from many basketball schools. His immediate entourage had concluded that he had no talents to become a basketball player. Despite all these drawbacks and difficulties, he came across, he never gave up and instead worked harder to achieve his potential in basket ball. His determination and steadfastness motivated him to work harder, thus becoming the world’s leading basketball icon. Today Michael Jordan remains and will be one of the greatest basketball players of all time due to hard work.

Above all, Albert Einstein was not an intelligent boy when he started school. His teachers thought he couldn’t succeed and said that his place wasn’t in a classroom. He thought that he was not intelligent. Consequently, Albert Einstein decided to abandon school in 1894 and moved to Switzerland. When he arrived in Switzerland, he decided to work relentlessly. Then, the harder he worked the more intelligent he became and graduated in 1905. In 1925 Einstein won a Nobel price for physics, and all that thanks to hard work.

When Mohammud Ali was young someone stole his bike. This made him very sad since he had no power to defend himself, so he couldn’t do anything. Then a police officer told him that If he wanted to protect his stuff he should learn boxing. He decided to learn boxing, in 1960 he won a fight against a famous boxer named Sonny Liston and won 55 times later due to his hard work and determination.

We can not always win without failures, but life teaches us that sometimes failure may bring us closer to our goals and success. Man learns from his mistakes and failures, and hard work never fails us.
